 SPAY IT FORWARD
The staff at Crawford Dog and Cat Hospital recognize that the overpopulation of feral cats is a problem. Though we are not a non-profit (we do not receive support or funds from the government), we have decided to donate a portion of our fees to offset the expense of spaying and neutering these animals.
Spay It Forward is a program we have set up to provide low cost spay and neuter services to people engaged in TNR (trap, neuter and release) efforts. We maintain the same level of care for these pets as we do for our private patients. All surgeries are done by appointment. Once the cat is in our care, he or she is evaluated by the doctor. Following a thorough exam, an IV catheter will be placed. A Licensed Technician will then administer and monitor a balanced anesthesia protocol. The surgery will be performed with a dedicated, sterile pack. All surgeries are done with a laser, which works to minimize pain and post op swelling. Cats will be discharged at the discretion of the medical staff (usually the day of the surgery or the following day).
In conjuction with surgical services, we will also provide basic care at a reduced cost, such as Felv/FIV screenings, vaccinations, dewormings, and flea treatments for cats found to be infested.
